The
Adam Noel Darling Memorial Scholarship Fund
Background
Adam Noel Darling served as an assistant to Secretary of Commerce Ron
Brown. He died in a plane crash in Croatia on April 3, 1996 that took
the
lives of Secretary Ron Brown and 33 other members of the mission. Adam,
who was just 27 at the time of the accident, was a man of strong moral
and
ethical convictions. He believed strongly in democracy and the building
of
democratic institutions. He believed that through international trade
and
commerce the world could be made safer and that democracy could take
root
throughout the world in a manner that would alleviate human suffering,
human rights violations, and uncontrolled degradation of the
environment.
Adam Darling loved life and loved working with people. He was a dreamer,
a
visionary, and a doer---he believed that people working together can
make
a difference.
