Andreas
Bauer
graduated from MIIS in December 1999. Since
attending the Monterey Institute, Mr. Bauer interned with Omega
International translating and editing documents in Spanish, German and
French, worked as a German and French language tutor, and interned with
Geonexus Communication as a cross-cultural trainer for children.
During the summer of 1998, he interned with Air Express
International, the biggest U.S.-based freight forwarder in the World.
Mr. Bauer assisted a Business Analyst at AEI.

Lisa Sandblom
Ms. Sandblom
graduated from MIIS in May 2000. Her previous work experience includes
three and a half years with AJC International, Inc, an international
food trading firm. She has
also completed two internships, one with the United Nations, in New York and the second at the Jimmy Carter
Presidential Center, in Atlanta, Georgia.
In
June 2001, she accepted the position of European Consultant for the USA
Poultry & Egg Export Council, a trade association aimed at
promoting the export of U.S. poultry and egg products. She is
currently based in Brussels, Belgium, but plans to relocate to
Stockholm, Sweden in May, 2003, where she will maintain her position
with the Council.
Laurie Zimmerman
Ms. Zimmerman received her BA degree in Art History from Santa Clara University. During the summer of 1999, she received a fellowship through the Rosenthal Foundation, to work at the State Department in Washington D.C. During her internship, Ms. Zimmerman was placed in the Office of Global Humanitarian De-Mining, where she worked on policy issues for the removal of landmines in developing nations. Ms. Zimmerman now works for the Department of Commerce where she works as a member of the negotiating team for the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas.
Tomoko Endo
Tomoko Endo
is from Sendai, Japan. Ms.
Endo graduated from Rikkyo University of Tokyo, with a major in English. After graduation from Rikkyo, she worked as a sales person
for a computer company as an Associate in the International Department.
Tomoko now works for the Japan Automobile Manufactures Association. She
is engaged in Asian countries' matters in APEC and WTO. Her main tasks
are researching, writing memos, organizing meetings with member
companies
Nicole Martin
Nicole Martin is originally from Los Angeles,
California. Ms. Martin
graduated from Santa Clara University with a double major in
Anthropology and Spanish. She
completed an internship during the summer of 1999 at the Department of
Commerce, Export Assistance Center, in Long Beach, California.
While there, she gathered market research, conducted research on
trade barriers on medical products, attended WTO hearings with local
businesses, and assisted in the organization of the ASEAN Ambassadors’
Tour. Nicole now works for
Fleishman-Hillard as an Assistant Account Executive. She formulates key
messages the Japanese public will understand and searches for the best
channels for distributing them. She also writes and distributes press
releases and media advisories and arranges for media tours and press
briefings.
Jennifer Jahnke
Jennifer
Jahnke is originally from Colorado.
Ms. Jahnke graduated from Regis University with a major in
Political Science and Economics. Jennifer now works for the US
Department of Labor. She works on the African portfolio and the trade
and environment portfolio. Ms. Jahnke also works on implementation of
the African Growth and Opportunity Act.
Neal Wavra
Neal Wavra
is a 2000 graduate from Chicago. Mr.
Wavra attended the Monterey Institute on a three and two program, in
cooperation with his undergraduate school in Washington State, Whitman
College. At Whitman
College, Mr. Wavra majored in French Literature.
During the summer of 1999, he completed an internship at the American Electronics Association where he gained a better
understanding of business/government relations through trade research,
attending congressional hearings and company/trade association meetings.
In 1999 he attended the Student Symposium on Negotiation
and Conflict Resolution, at the Hague, in Brussels, Belgium.
Neal now works for the US Department of Commerce in the Trade
Compliance center, covering WTO compliance and dispute settlement as
well as the WTO Import Licensing Agreement.
He also coordinates the Departments contribution to the National
Trade Estimate and Special 301 reports.
Dawei Cheng
Dawei Cheng
is a 2000 CD graduate from China. Ms.
Cheng studied at the Monterey Institute on a Fulbright Scholarship.
Before coming to Monterey, she taught Economics during 1990-1998,
at Renmin University of China, Beijing.
There she served as Assistant to the Dean of the School of
Economics, and as a lecturer in the Department of International
Economics. Since
graduating, Dawai has returned to Remin University and is currently
working on establishing a CD training program in China.
Tetsuya Ishizuka
Tetsuya Ishizuka is from Japan.
He graduated from Doshisha University in Economics, Kyoto, Japan,
and later worked for Daido Steel Co., Ltd.
Mr. Ishizuka completed a summer internship at the
Fleishman-Hillard Japan, Inc., as an Assistant Account Executive.
There, he completed industry research for pharmaceutical
companies, investor relations, and became involved with local Japanese
politics. He learned about
the internet, calling organizations, translation, and presentation.
Ishizuka now works for the International Development Center of Japan,
providing research development assistance on policy and related issues.

Anthony Grasso
Anthony Grasso is originally from Wisconsin. He completed
his B.A. in History at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Mr. Grasso spent this summer of 1999 as an intern at the American
Electronics Association where he gained a better understanding of
business/government relations. His tasks included trade research, attending congressional
hearings and company/trade association meetings, reporting on those
events, and general assistance around the office, etc.
Mr. Grasso now works for the US Department of Commerce as an
Import Compliance Specialist. He analyzes foreign trade practices that
are potentially, or have been determined to be in violation of US
antidumping or countervailing duty statutes.
Jill
Stoffers
Jill
Stoffers is originally from Portland, Oregon.
Ms. Stoffers completed her undergraduate degree at Portland State
University. She received a
BA in International Studies with a minor in
Economics.
Ms. Stoffers also studied for one year in Sheffield, England and
one semester in Brussels, Belgium. Jill now works at MIIS as the MBA
Student Relations and Program Coordinator. She coordinates Fisher School
Activities and works on external relations and data collection analysis.
Andrew Dyer
Andrew Dyer
is a 2000 CD graduate. Mr.
Dyer attended the Monterey Institute on a three and two program, in
cooperation with his undergraduate school in Washington State, Whitman
College. At Whitman
College, Mr. Dyer majored in History, with a minor in Spanish.
For three summers, he worked as the director of Amigos health
programs, in Latin America. The past summer, in Costa Rica, he also
attended the Conference on Trade in Services in the Americas, with
Professor Geza Feketekuty. Andrew
is now a student at the University of Michigan Law School.
Massimo Gelloso
Grosso
Massimo
Gelloso Grosso is a 2000 CD graduate of Italian nationality. Mr. Gelloso Grosso graduated from Boston University in
International Relations. He
is fluent in Italian, English, Spanish and French. During the summer of
1999, Mr. Gelloso Grosso interned at two locations.
He first spent time at the Il Istituto Nazionale per il Commercio
Estero (ICE) Governmental, an agency that is part of the Italian
Ministry of Foreign Commerce, located in Madrid, Spain.
He was assigned to the food department, and was in charge of
promotion of Italian agriculture exports to Spain. Mr. Gelloso
Grosso’s second internship was spent at UNCTAD in Geneva, Switzerland.
There, he worked on a new program, known as the Commercial Diplomacy
Program. Massimo now works for the OECD Trade Directorate. He works on
the trade codes of corporate conduct. His tasks there include inter alia
research and analysis of data and relevant information, drafting of
documents and participating in meetings with stakeholders.
Dora
Majoros
Dora Majoros
is a 2000 CD graduate from Hungary.
Ms. Majoros is fluent in Hungarian and English, and conversant in
Spanish. During the summer
of 1999, she completed an internship in Geneva, Switzerland, with the
Accessions Division at the World Trade Organization. Ms. Majoros found
her internship experience extremely educational and fascinating. Dora is
currently working on the investment team with the European Commission in
Brussels at DG trade. She is a member of the Investment Team.
Karine-Isabella
Macri
Karine-Isabella Macri is a 2000 CD graduate.
Ms. Macri is a Romanian citizen, yet raised in Los Angeles,
California. During the
summer of 1999 Ms. Macri interned
with the State Department in the US Embassy in Bucharest, Romania.
During her internship, Ms. Macri worked closely with Foreign
Commercial Officers to promote American Businesses in Romania.
Michael
Nogan
Michael Nogan is a 2000 CD graduate, from Fort Worth,
Texas. Mr. Nogan completed
his undergraduate education at Wabash College, in Indiana.
During the summer of 1999, he interned at the USTR
in the
office of Europe and Middle East affairs.
His responsibilities
included working on a U.S. response to Egypt's trade policy review. He
also composed cables of instructions to U.S. posts overseas on various
subjects, and analysis industrial zones to be established in Jordan.
Michael now works for the US International Trade Commission as Manager
in Telecommunications, Information Policy and Marketing.
